The Programme

The Programme

Children require both structure as well as flexibility. Structure - to support their emotional security, this provides for the building of concepts and the learning of skills. Flexibility - employed to encourage children to venture from a secure base toward challenges, in their own way, at their own pace.

Open

52 weeks every year.

Hours

07.00 to 18.00.

Staff/Child Ratios

Additional nursery assistants are regularly employed to help support children, including those with additional needs.

Choices

Full time, 2,3,4 full days weekly, also half day sessions available with or without lunch.

In common with most nurseries, we operate a policy of minimum attendance. Initially, this will help your child settle into the nursery, as well as improve their rate of progress in an important developmental stage for them. This is especially important for the Under 2s. Please discuss these arrangements with any member of staff, or our Manageress.

At Training Depot Day Nursery we offer a settling in period, free of charge, for each new child starting with us. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child for the beginning of the session.

The Nursery provides a planned curriculum of activities and events using the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage 2021, published by the Department For Education, DfE (2021).

Children/students learn through sharing stories, story reading from books and rhymes, as well as taking part in child initiated free play or adult planned/led activities. English, Maths and Science are included; as well as cultural, social and spiritual ideas.

Computer suite provided for children to participate in fun, games and educational programmes, developing good learning habits. An interactive white board is available for the children, for use with a range of educational games and programmes.

The Nursery has an excellent refurbished outdoor play area with a wide variety of fixed and mobile equipment. Safety surfaces throughout. All weather awnings providing cover for all play areas.

We take the children on various outings throughout the year, including trips to the park, library, shops ect., and we take all Nursery children on an annual visit to either the zoo, Woburn Wildlife Park, or Paradise Wildlife Park.

Meals

In 2009 we were awarded accreditation from Bedfordshire & Luton Primary Care Trust's for Under 5's Healthy Eating Award.

Training Depot Day Nursery provides morning snack, a healthy home cooked lunch and an afternoon snack from its own kitchens.

Menus are displayed which incorporate a nutritional, well balanced choice. Having received written notice from parents, we will always have regard for a child's diagnosed food allergies and specific dietary requirements.

Our staff sit together with the children to eat meals providing support and a family atmosphere, whilst also encouraging conversation and good table manners.
